False Rumor: The Corvette ZR1 is Not Dead... Rumors are "Not True"

Yesterday DigitalCorvettes started a rumor that GM had stopped production of the Corvette ZR1 and that the car had been killed. Well today those rumors have been put to rest by Terry Rhadigan ), Chevrolet’s manager for global communications.

Rhadigan recently told Autoblog that the rumors were "Not True." GM still has orders for the ZR1 and production is going to start up again next week.

Chevy Volt Photos Leaked, For Once We Don’t Enjoy Admitting We’re Disappointed

Recently, spy shots and leaked interior photos of the highly anticipated Chevy Volt have hit the auto blogging world, leaving most motorheads foaming at the mouth. I, on the other hand, sort of feel like I showed up to meet an eHarmony.com date and he turned out to look more like Boy George than George Clooney.

As a result of spending months upon months gazing at images of the Chevy Volt concept car, we admit we’d envisioned something a little…cooler, than the sedan revealed in the spy shots. Captured during filming for the Transformers sequel, from what we could make out, the production version of the Volt looks almost nothing like the concept Volt of our hybrid dreams. While the disappointment we feel is admittedly our fault for being delusional, we’re still a little dismayed.

The interior shot that’s being circulated was supposedly lifted from an internal presentation, hopefully entitled “Rejected Ideas For Volt Interior Console.” To us, the blunt white styling suggests one of two things: a partnership with Apple in an attempt to compete with Ford’s acclaimed Microsoft SYNC technology, or a complete lack of design sense. We’re inclined to lean more towards the former, which only disappoints us in the sense that we don’t find ass-white very attractive.

GM Halts Corvette Production Due to the Poor Economy

GM is going to halt production of the Chevy Corvette for a week starting Oct. 6th due to the economy and the ongoing automotive recession.

Daryl Hannah’s Bio-Diesel El Camino finds a Winning Bidder

Daryl Hannah’s bio-diesel, flat black el Camino as found a winning bidder on ebay. Closing at a wallet friendly $15,600 the auction winner will be awarded his Hannah friendly el Camino and its bio-diesel pumping 55-gallon fuel drum as soon as he is ready to pick it all up we can only presume. Because why would you go through all of this and then pass up the chance to meet the cars owner in the flesh?

While I am personally not one for movie memorabilia or autographs of the stars Daryl Hannah’s el Camino might have been a possible exception. At least it is something that can be driven and has some environmentally kind purpose, and since the auction for the car closed at a relatively acceptable price it might not be a purchase that would be too hard to swallow. That is until the first time it breaks down and spends some time in the garage with my other project car. Then I might not feel so good about my purchase.

Corvette Summer

Well, actually it’s winter now in Oz, but with the temp in the mid 20s (that’s Celsius), it’s hardly a winter! So, my folks made their way down to view some Vettes by the beach, and going by their pics, it looked like a good turnout. And no, your eyes arne’t playing tricks, most were right hand drive. 2009 Chevy Corvette ZR1 6.2L LS9 V8 Leaked!

Final details on the upcoming Corvette ZR1 weren't expected until January at the Detroit Auto Show, but Jalopnik has already received official photos of the LS9 V8 that will power the 2009 ZR1.

562 HP Hennessey HPE550 Camaro: Powerful

The Houston Based modification shop, Hennessey Motorsport’s has just souped up a 2010 HPE550 Camaro to 562 HP and have just done their first test run out on it. Any Camaro doubters will quickly be convinced when they see that it is capable of hitting 3.6 second 0-60 times with a stellar 11.7 @ 121 mph.

Would the Corvette be in your Top 10 of American Inventions?

A Top 10 list has been assembled to rate the ten quintessentially American Inventions by Askmen.com. There have been so many inventions to come from this most inventive land that narrowing out the Cotton Gin, Peanut Butter and Fantasy Football from the list would prove difficult. However the folks at Askmen succeeded on their own terms in creating a Top 10 and the Chevrolet Corvette just made it in at number 10.

The Corvette was a revolution for the car industry and since its introduction in 1953 there have been only 6 body styles released (labeled as C1-C6). The 7th design of the Corvette is scheduled to be introduced in 2010, which amazingly is not very far from now.

As inventions go the Corvette is truly as American as Baseball; which happens to be number 5 on the list of American Inventions. It is only fair since Baseball has been around twice as long as the Corvette.
